We are fortunate to have a great talent for attracting the sweetest of souls to our business. Moana & Storm are two such sweet souls.
The pair met in high school chemistry class (how cute is that) & the rest, as they say, is history. We were so honored to be there to capture their wedding film in the stunning Maleny hinterland.

When looking for the perfect backdrop to host their DIY bohemian extravaganza, they stumble upon the incredible Maleny Retreat & loved the versatility that the venue provides. With lodges & tents available for hire on site, the guests were able to party late into the night with only a short walk (or stumble) back to their accommodation.
Of course the view across the valley is breathtaking & the perfect backdrop for a wedding ceremony.
Moana has great love of weddings & wedding planning so of course she planned every beautiful detail down to a tee. With the help of her bride squad, they put together the most incredible DIY flower arrangements in a palette of blush & deep red.
Moana’s make up was flawless thanks to Tasleema Nigh & her hair was taken care of by the incredibly talented Olivia Kate Hair.
She wore a necklace that was an heirloom given to her by Storms mother & her engagement ring & wedding band were crafted by Custom Jewellery Co.
Moana wore the ‘Storm’ dress from Madi Lane Bridal purchased from Luv Bridal which she had altered to remove the sleeves. We are obsessed with the lace detail on this gown!
Their ceremony was heartfelt & intimate thanks to the wonderous Kath Tilly Celebrant. Moana’s dad felt the sting of Saturday gridlock traffic on the Bruce Highway from Brisbane to Maleny & arrived just as the ceremony finished. They had held off for as long as possible but it’s a harsh reality that ceremony proceedings often wait for no man (even the most important ones). Fortunately Moana & Storm had a full ceremony edit included in their video package which meant that whilst dad missed the ceremony, he could re-live it in full at a later date! Hooray!
In the great tradition of bohemian luxe wedding styling, Moana & Storm had a sweeping ivory tipi tent set up on the property by Sperry Tents Sunshine Coast.
The space was decorated by their friends & family with furniture hired from First Class Functions & handmade signage & art works by Storms sister Mon.
Being vegan, it was so important to Moana & Storm to have their wedding feast catered entirely plant-based.
Carly from Lavish Platters put together the most incredible vegan grazing table we have ever seen, with guests enjoying chocolates, olives, dried fruits, cashew cheeses, a selection of plant-based dips, seeded crackers, fresh produce, cheesy breads from Flour of Life bakery & even vegan jerky.
Dinner was lovingly prepared onsite by The Paella Fella who set up his paella skillet right outside the tipi so the guests could learn the trick to cooking this traditional Spanish dish.
Moana & Storm were blessed with the most awe inspiring sunset on the day of their wedding. The lush green of the Maleny hinterland gave way to a landscape of vivid orange & pink.
We ambled the grounds of Maleny Retreat as the couple held hands & shared a quiet moment together before returning to their reception at dusk.
Storm & his groomsmen set up the most epic lighting & sound configuration & the dancing went on well into the night. We had a little boogie & enjoyed watching Levi steal the show with his somersault prowess.
Moana & Storms cake was a decadent chocolate mud cake by vegan bakery Flour of Life. We nabbed a piece for the drive home & can confirm it was supremely chocolatey (& just the right caffeine to sugar ratio to get us through the two hour drive home).
We were so honored to share in Moana & Storms day with them. We met so many beautiful souls & walked away happy in our hearts. Special thanks to all the incredible vendors who brought the day together, as well as Moana & Storms friends & family & Moana & Storm themselves.
